One of our major objectives remains to accelerate availability of life-saving vaccines for Low-Income Countries, where pediatric infectious diseases have the highest mortality rates. Still today more than 5 million children below 5 years of age die because of infectious diseases that may be prevented by vaccines already available at the proof of concept level in research labs, using existing technologies. The Foundation has therefore supported the advancement of neglected vaccines coordinating existing resources thanks to grants obtained to this end.
Today, and even more in the future, Health will be everybody’s or nobody’s: every major event taking place in a country may spread to the whole planet as happened with Covid, with huge health, social and economic consequences.
